A psalm of ascents to be sung while entering Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world. According to wikipedia, Jerusalem has been destroyed at least twice, besieged 23 times, captured and recaptured 44 times, and attacked 52 times. Even today there is conflict and unrest in this holy city.

In Psalm 122, David demonstrates his love for Jerusalem and his people, Israel. Reading his request to pray for peace in Jerusalem has echoed through the many generations that followed him.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you prosper. May there be peace inside your walls and safety in your palaces.” Psalm 122:6-7

One day there will be peace in Jerusalem.
