Day 58, Psalm 58

This psalm is a continuation of yesterday’s psalm, Psalm 57 . Yesterday, David talked about God fulfilling our purpose as He completes His Plan. Today’s psalm talks about God’s end game – justice. In the last verse, David imagines the celebration when people realize God brought Justice.

Everyone will say, “It’s true! Good people are rewarded. God does indeed rule the earth with justice.” Psalm 58:11

The day of justice will make sense out of today’s struggle. How many times have you declared, “it’s not fair!”? When we measure things with a micro-view they don’t always look fair. But at the end of each story, there will be a reconciliation to justice. We can count on that, because God declares it.

See you tomorrow for Psalm 59

Day 7, Psalm 7

This psalm is written with such bravery.  David asks the Lord to react with justice against the sin and evil actions of his enemy.  He also asks the Lord to examine his own heart and if there is fault within him, he asks the Lord to show him.  He stands ready to take correction from the Lord at the same time he implores the Lord for help.  I admire this so much.  David not only show us something about his character, he also fearfully teaches us about God’s sovereignty.   Through his many battles and time spent with God, he knows God is just, not only with those around him but also with him personally.  We will all have to pass through God’s purifying fire.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24

See you tomorrow for psalm 8.

Love finds no pleasure in injustice done to others.

The Vines dictionary describes injustice as – a condition of not being right, whether with God, according to the standard of his holiness and righteousness, or with man, according to the standard of what man knows to be right by his conscience.

This definition has caused me to pause and reflect on recent events. What has happened to the “standard” of what man knows to be right by his conscience?

Lord, without your influence we are lost. I pray that your wisdom will break-through and refresh our sense of right and wrong. May your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Amen
